Roger Quillin Obituary

Roger Allen Quillin, 71, went home to the Lord on January 9, 2024, at Trinity Hospital Twin City, Dennison, Ohio. Born on June 3, 1952, in Union Hospital, Dover, Ohio to Charles and Priscilla (Smith) Quillin. He graduated from Indian Valley South and then on February 14, 1972, he was wed to Linda Dorsey. Two months later he was called to duty in the Army, where he received a sharpshooter pin and served as an M.P. in Frankfort, Germany.

After his time in the military, Roger worked several jobs over the years. His longest two were at Belden Brick in Port Washington for 15 to 20 years and at Semco Ceramics in Uhrichsville before retiring in 2018.

Roger loved to watch Regina, Janet, and Jason in all the sports they were in, and the grandchildren in their sports, whenever he could. He enjoyed spending time with family, hunting, fishing, bowling, crocheting afghans, and his old beloved “55” Chevy. Roger was also a Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Linda, two children: Janet Tanner of Gulfport, MS, and Jason (Elizabeth) Quillin of Port Washington; five grandchildren: McKayla (Joel) Camp, Dustin Tanner, Brandon Tanner, Ashton Tanner, and Parker Quillin; three brothers: Terry (Roberta) Quillin, and Jimmy Quillin of Newcomerstown, and Randy (Shirley) Quillin of Port Washington; brother-in-law Bob (Kathy) Dorsey of Port Washington, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Roger was preceded in death by a daughter, Regina Quillin, brothers Dwayne “Bill” Quillin and David Quillin, and brother-in-law Ron Dorsey.

Military Honors for Roger will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024, starting at 3:00 P.M. at Koch Funeral Home of Gnadenhutten. A funeral service will follow and then the family will receive friends and family for calling hours until 5:00 P.M. Roger will then be cremated and buried with his daughter, Regina, in West-Union Cemetery in Gilmore.
