Robert Welsch Obituary

          Robert C. Welsch, 83, of Gilmore, died at home surrounded by his family on Saturday afternoon January 22, 2022, following an extended illness.

          On April 25, 1938, Bob was born to the late Emerson and Blanch (Hines) Welsch in Port Washington, Ohio. He graduated from Port Washington High School in 1956 and then joined the Marine Corps, serving for four years. Shortly after being discharged from the military, Bob began his 30-year career at the same facility in Newcomerstown manufacturing plastics. He retired from then Gen Corp in 1995 and began traveling the world with his wife, Faye. Bob was proud that they had made it to thirty-eight different countries.

          In his younger years, Bob was an active member of various barbershop quartets, even joining the S.P.E.B.S.Q.A. (Society for the Preservation and Encouraging of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America). He was also a songleader for the Church of Christ, where he had been a member since 1963.

          Bob is survived by Faye (McMullen) Welsch, his wife of sixty years, whom he married on June 4, 1961, children: Lisa Parise and husband Ralph of Stow, and Craig Welsch of Gilmore; grandchildren: Andrew Parise and wife Katie, Anthony Parise and wife Brittany, and Angela Parise Taylor and husband Guy; great-grandchildren: Carson, Colton, and Cullen Parise, Matthew, Vanessa, and Anthony Jr. Parise, and Kyler Taylor; siblings: Carol Welsch Watercutter and husband Jim, and Fred Welsch and wife Beverly; in-laws: Glenn McMullen and wife Marjorie, and Anna McMullen, and numerous nieces and nephews.

          Along with his parents, Bob is preceded in death by a sister-in-law Martha Main, and a brother-in-law Carl McMullen.

          Following his wishes Bob will be cremated and no services will be held. Memorial contributions may be made in Robert’s honor to Community Hospice 716 Commercial Ave SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663. Arrangements were entrusted to Koch Funeral Home of Gnadenhutten.
