Joseph N. Wyckoff, 82, of Gnadenhutten died peacefully on Thursday morning of October 12, 2023, at Park Village Southside in New Philadelphia OH.

He was born in Littleton, WV on January 20,1941 to the late James and Mary (McGowan) Wyckoff. Once the family moved to the Gnadenhutten area, it is where he spent the rest of his life. Joe ran dozer for various strip-mining coal companies and worked for over 40 years before retiring from Oxford in 2009. He was a working man but enjoyed his old T.V. shows like Gunsmoke.

Though no children of his own, Joe became a stepfather to four children after he married the late Lois C. (Mahoney) on July 16, 1973. They were married for almost forty-two years before her death on May 7, 2015.

Surviving are three stepchildren: Carol (Randy) Armstrong, Jay (Lori) Riggs, Connie (Rod) English; daughter-in-law Margret Riggs, six grandchildren: Troi (Jim) McKelvey, David (Naybis) Riggs, Jennifer Riggs, Jennifer Smith, Jason Riggs, and Brandon (Tara) English; seven great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, two sisters: Ruth Ann Wise and Ila Marie Wyckoff; one brother Johnny (Jeanie) Wyckoff, sister-in-law Joyce Hutchinson, brother-in-law Leo Mahoney, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents and wife, Joe was preceded in death by his stepson Ralph G. Riggs, four brothers: James, Thomas, Harry, and Charles Wyckoff; and three sisters: Elizabeth Anthony, Minnie Yoss, and Cora Soles.

A private service will be held with the assistance of Koch Funeral Home of Gnadenhutten. Memorial contributions may be given in Joe’s name to Community Hospice Inc. or to the John Heckewelder Memorial Moravian Church in Gnadenhutten.
