Gloria Marlene Guspyt passed away of cardiac arrest at her residence in Akron, Ohio on January 31, 2024. She was born September 29, 1948, to Ruby and Charles Gusset, who preceded her in death, along with two nephews, Joel Horsfall and Dave Messner. Gloria is survived by her siblings: Ed (Linda) Guspyt, Carolyn Horsfall, Dan (Helen) Guspyt, Ruth (Charlie) Weber, Lois Donehue, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gloria grew up on the family farm near Navarre, and later moved with the family to Gnadenhutten. She learned to play the accordion and performed at local festivals with Roselyn’s Music Studio. She competed in music competitions at Cedar Point and gave accordion lessons locally.
She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Navarre, and attended several different churches throughout her lifetime, including the Gnadenhutten Moravian Church and Uhrichsville Christian Fellowship.
Gloria was a graduate of Tuscarawas-Warwick High School in 1966, then attended Jane Adams Academy in Cleveland before going to West Liberty College in West Virginia, where she graduated from the dental hygiene program. She worked as a dental hygienist for several dental practices in the area.
In keeping with Gloria’s wishes, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Uhrichsville Christian Fellowship Church, 132 Kutchem Dr., Uhrichsville, Ohio 44683, or the donor’s church of choice. Gloria’s kind heart and generous spirit will be missed by her family and all those that knew her.
