Donald L. Wright, 69, of Kimbolton died unexpectedly at his home on June 20, 2023. He was born at Union Hospital on August 29, 1953, to Donald and Wanda (Starkey) Wright. Don graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1972 and then enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served for twenty-two years as a tanker before retiring as a Sgt 1st Class. He then went to work for Velcon in Colorado before moving back to Ohio where he worked for Waynedale Truss and Panel as a sawyer, then for Janesville Acoustics in Newcomerstown. Don enjoyed fishing, woodworking, gardening, and loved taking care of his animals.
He is preceded by his father Donald, first wife Donna Wright who died in 1995, and a brother David Wright.
Surviving are Don’s wife of twenty-three years Charlotte (Schriener), whom he married in 2000, his son Micheal W. Wright (girlfriend Chrissy Schweitzer) of Freeport, his mother Wanda, step-children: Karen (Keith) Maloy of West Lafayette, John (Lori) Griffith of Stone Creek, Todd (Missy) Schwendiman of Uhrichsville and Laura (Buddy) Wright of Port Washington; two brothers: Richard Wright and Robert Wright both of New Philadelphia, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and uncles Charles Starkey and Robert Starkey.
Calling hours and a funeral service will be held on June 27, 2023, at Koch Funeral Home of Gnadenhutten 244 N. Walnut St., 44629. Calling hours will be from 12:30 P.M. until the start of the service at 2:00 P.M. Pastor Jim Wallick will officiate the service. Burial with Military Honors performed by the Newcomerstown Veteran’s Honor Guard will take place immediately following the service at Schoenbrunn Meadows Cemetery.
