Donald Opphile Obituary

Donald E. Opphile, 84, of Port Washington, died at his home Friday, March 11, 2022, following an extended illness.

On April 20, 1937, Don was born to the late Walter and Cora (Moore) Opphile in Newcomerstown, Ohio. He graduated from Newcomerstown High School in 1955. Following high school, Don worked at several different companies, including Belden Brick, Stocker & Sitler, and G.E. of Newcomerstown, where he spent most of his working life. When the plant closed, Don then went to work at Pretty Products in Coshocton, from where he retired.

Don enjoyed camping, fishing, mowing his yard, following the Cleveland Browns, watching the news of the world, and painting any chance he got. He loved each one of his dogs he had throughout his life. Most of all, Don loved and enjoyed every moment he got to spend with his family.

Surviving is his wife of 35 years, Florence (Steinbach) whom he married on December 24, 1986, his children: Kim (Dan) Terrion of Newcomerstown, Michael (Donna) Opphile of Uhrichsville, Lisa Fansler (Companion James Swiger) of Port Washington, and Amy (James) Wagner of Columbus; seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and siblings Charles Opphile, Carol (Steve) Everhart, Bob (Nola) Opphile, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Donnie is preceded in death by sisters Thelma Kenney, Beatrice Mathews, Gladys Wilson, and brothers Llyod, Harold, and Floyd Opphile, and a nephew Bart Opphile.
