"Chuckie Charley" Charles Henry Ward, 73, of Gnadenhutten, died unexpectedly on Sunday evening in Trinity Hospital Twin City's Emergency Room.
Charles was born in Dover, Ohio on October 10, 1946 to the late Charles P. and Clara A. (Gsell) Ward. With his father being in the military, Charles moved around the country while growing up. In 1965, he graduated from Central Islip High School in New York, and found a home there for over thirty years. While there, he worked at APEX, a wire production factory. Finding his way to Gnadenhutten, Charles began working for Tusco Display for seventeen years before retiring. He enjoyed working in the yard and taking his dogs Emma and Pirate for walks. Charles was also a fan of Western Movies and watching the Yankees, Indians, Mets, and football. He was also active with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where he had been a member for the last five years.
Charles is survived by a sister, Cathy Hardin, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and his church family.
Services for Charles will be held on Friday, January 24, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 521 Stratton Avenue Extension SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663, with Bishop Timothy McKnight presiding over the service. Burial will follow the service in the German Cemetery in Mineral City, Ohio. Calling hours will be on Thursday, January 23, 2020 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Koch Funeral Home, LLC of Gnadenhutten, 244 North Walnut Street, Gnadenhutten, Ohio 44629.
