Barbara Jean (Horsfall) Walker

          Barbara J. (Horsfall) Walker, 74, of rural New Philadelphia, died peacefully on Saturday evening of January 22, 2022, surrounded by her family at Claymont Health and Rehabilitation after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

          She was born in Dover, Ohio on September 15, 1947, to the late Harold Sr. and Mary (Kinsey) Horsfall. She went to Gnadenhutten High School where she graduated in 1965, then became a nurse’s aide, and worked for New Dawn Rehab and Healthcare Center in Dover for twenty-eight years before retiring.

          Barb enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren, and birdwatching. She was a member of the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church on Oldtown Valley Road.

          Surviving are five children: Christine Metzger (Jimmy Covelli) Ronald Austin (Bonnie), and Anthony “Skeeter” Walker (Tonya), all of New Philadelphia, William Walker (Ann), and Angela Walker (Brent Murtaugh), both of Uhrichsville; twelve grandchildren: Tori Metzger, Daniel Metzger (Joce Toole), Sophia Austin, Iris Austin, Jordan Martin (Vinnie Granato), Kylee Walker, Ashtyn Walker, Ryann Walker, Tripp Walker, Kinsey Walker, Sydney Mackey (Chase Erickson), and Shyanne Mackey (Brady Collins); three great-grandchildren: Giovanna Granato, Luna Granato, and Atlas Metzger; and a sister Sylvia Stein of New Philadelphia.

          Along with her parents, Barb was preceded in death by two brothers: Harold Horsfall Jr. and Paul Horsfall.

          Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. in Koch Funeral Home of Gnadenhutten, 244 North Walnut St. Gnadenhutten, Ohio 44629. Pastor John Stevenson will officiate the service. Calling hours also at the funeral home, will be held on Tuesday, January 25, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
