Shirley May (Muravsky) Bennington, 76, of Gnadenhutten died Sunday, January 23, 2022, in Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital following a brief illness.

She was born in Bellaire, Ohio on May 8, 1945, to the late Adolf Jr. and Norma Mae (Kimberly) Muravsky. Shirley graduated from Shadyside High School in 1963 and then went to work for Bates Metal for several years, but most of her career was spent at home, being a homemaker. She was a member of the Gnadenhutten United Methodist Church and spent time everyday reading her Bible. Shirley enjoyed coloring and the art of crochet, making over sixty blankets, including numerous baby blankets. And she loved to spend time watching her grandkids.

Shirley is survived by her husband of fifty-three years, James Bennington of the home, whom she married on March 16, 1968. Also surviving are two daughters: Janet (Gary) Nichols and Roberta Wilson both of Gnadenhutten, two grandchildren: Kimberly Lynn Nichols and Joshua Paul Nichols, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by three siblings: Nancy Beckett, Jean Zuesy, and Ralph Muravsky, and an infant great-grandson Theo.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022, beginning at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor John Kelly officiating at Koch Funeral Home of Gnadenhutten, 244 N. Walnut Street, 44629. Burial will immediately follow the service at Gnadenhutten-Clay Union Cemetery. Calling hours will be held two hours prior to the service from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.
