Obituary

Sandra Sue (Long) Struchen, 84, of Gnadenhutten, passed away on May 1, 2022. She was born in Uhrichsville on January 27, 1938, to the late Nelson and Nelda (Major) Long. Sandy attended school in Dennison where she had many fond memories from the eighth grade and then she graduated from Uhrichsville High School in 1955. She was employed at Harts Family Center and drove school bus for Indian Valley for twenty-five great years. She was a member of Gnadenhutten United Methodist Church, where she was active in the Rebekah Circle and the United Methodist Women. Sandy was also a member of the Uhrichsville Moose #779, where she earned her College of Regents degree. She loved dancing with family and friends to country music. She took great pride in watching her children and grandchildren in sports, band, and concerts, and enjoyed time playing cards, and games with them.

On June 11, 1955, she married Gary Struchen, who survives, whom she enjoyed sixty-six years of marriage. Also surviving are three daughters: Sherry Struchen of Bolivar, Tammy Schlabach of Bakersville, and Tina Renner (Companion Rich Hindman) of Gnadenhutten; a son Jeff (Jacquie) Struchen of Gnadenhutten; six grandchildren: Chris Grove companion Shane, Jason (Lynette) Henry, Julie  Walls, Janell (Ryan) Storm, Tyonna Renner, companion Lenny, and Jade Slaughter;  great-grandchildren: Luke and Hunter Henry, Abigail and Ellison Walls, Sage and Chase Storm, and Kyler and TJ Bernhart; two sisters: Kay (Larry) Laisure, and Sue Mason, and a sister-in-law Ina Struchen.

Along with her parents, Sandy is preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law Nancy and Bill Sanders, an infant brother Greg Nelson Long, two brothers-in-law Jim Mason and Richard Struchen, and a grandson Nathan Renner.

A calling hour will be held on Friday, May 6, 2022, from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at Koch Funeral Home of Gnadenhutten, 244 N. Walnut St., 44629. A Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 P.M. with Pastor Hyun Suk Kim officiating. Burial will follow at Rock Hill Cemetery in Flushing, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice Inc., 716 Commercial Ave. SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
