Patricia Ann (Smith) Vermeire, 81, of Dennison lost her hard-fought battle of various cancers over the years on Tuesday morning of February 11, 2025, at Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital surrounded by her family.

Pat was born in Rock Island, Illinois to the late George and Helen (Norene) Smith on January 21, 1944, and she graduated from Rock Island High School in 1962. On April 20, 1963, she married Thomas Vermeire in Moline, Illinois, beginning sixty-one years of a happy life together. They loved traveling together and being snowbirds later in retirement, going south to Mississippi for the winter and coming back to Ohio and Illinois for the summers.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends doing many activities together including gambling for fun and going to yard sales and thrift stores, looking for a good deal. Pat also loved her animals, fostering many different pets over the years.

In addition to her husband, Pat is survived by children Curtis Lee (Brenda) Vermeire of Davenport, IA, and Connie Sue (Bill) Burkholder of Massillon; child/grandchild Megan (Ty) Cox of Gnadenhutten, grandchildren: Logan Willoughby, Landon Willoughby, Luke Vermeire, Reed Vermeire, and Corinna (companion Brenden Williams) Burkholder; great-grandchildren: Makenna, Alivia, Khloe, Gigi, and Laylah, and many friends from the Mississippi Wolf River Resort.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter Katherine Ann Willoughby and a brother Ron Smith.

A cremation service was selected, and no public service is planned.
