Malcolm Clyde Young, 94, of Gnadenhutten died Friday afternoon on December 11, 2020 in Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital.

Malcolm was born at home in Tuscarawas, Ohio on August 15, 1926, to the late Alexander and Myrtle (Kunkle) Young. He graduated from Uhrichsville High School and then served his country in the United States Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater and the Korean War. Following his military service, he went to work for Pennsylvania Railroad as a signal operator for forty-one years.

He was a member of the American Legion in Uhrichsville and the Gnadenhutten United Methodist Church.

Malcolm loved to travel, visiting all 48 states and parts of Canada with family. He and his wife Lois, to whom he was married to for fifty-eight years, also traveled to Alaska, Hawaii, Europe, and Australia. He enjoyed hiking and fishing with friends and family and looked forward to his daily walks in Gnadenhutten, visiting with his friends along the way. He also spent time with the 'old timers' a group of retired railroad workers who got together on different occasions. Malcolm also liked to raise cattle as he spent time being a bit of a hobby farmer since the mid '60's.

Surviving are two sons: John Young & wife Donna (Wendt) of Gnadenhutten, and David Young & wife Lenore (Klag) of San Antonio, Texas; two grandchildren: Alexander Young and Matthew (Kari) Young; a great-grandson Mason, a sister Virginia Balmer of Canton, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Along with his parents, Malcolm is preceded in death by his wife Lois K. (Baker) Young, a brother Eugene Young, and a sister Betty Gray.

There will be no public services for Malcolm at this time. A memorial service will be held on a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gnadenhutten United Methodist Church or Riverside Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
