Kya Barger of Gnadenhutten was called into the arms of Jesus on June 30, 2026, at the tender age of 14. Kya’s life cannot be measured by the number of years she was given, but by the joy, love, and light she brought into the world. Though small in stature, the joy in her heart made her larger than life. She was a country girl through and through, happiest when she was outside. Kya loved spending quality time with her family and friends, always seeking a new adventure even if it was close to home. She loved all animals and took pride in caring for the ones that she called her own.

          Kya loved big - the life she lived, the people in it, and the Lord who guided her heart. She gave her love freely, and cherished being a sister and an aunt. More than anything, Kya loved Jesus. She loved drawing, listening to music, and playing the piano. She was wildly energetic, a true prankster, with a bubbly laugh. Kya enjoyed baking, especially decorating birthday cakes for her family. She showed her love by baking desserts for her neighbors, specifically, rhubarb pie with homemade crust. Kya enjoyed sitting and sharing stories with people and didn’t know a stranger. Her kindness reached far and wide, and she taught all of us to love a little bigger.

          Kya gave her time and heart generously to her community. She served as vice president of the Thunder Valley Pioneers 4-H Club and volunteered at Schoenbrunn Village as a historical reenactor. Additionally, she volunteered with the Dennison Depot’s Early Leadership Foundation for Youth, serving on the committee board and helping with many Depot events. Kya was also a devoted member of the youth group at First Baptist Church in New Philadelphia.

          Kya’s absence will leave an immeasurable void in this life. While we were not ready to say goodbye, Kya undeniably changed all those who knew her. She will be forever missed, yet we find comfort in knowing she now walks with the loved ones who went before her and with her friend, Jesus.

          Please join us for a celebration of life in Kya's honor. A service led by Pastor Craig Warner will be followed by a time of fellowship on Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 12:00p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 878 Commercial Ave SW in New Philadelphia. Interment at Evergreen Memorial Park will take place during a private family service.
