Obituary

Helen Elizabeth Hopkins Beabout, 89, of Gnadenhutten, died on October 13, 2015, at Beacon Pointe Rehab Center, Uhrichsville, Ohio. Helen was born on June 22, 1926 in Swarts, PA to the late William Frank and Hazel (Shoup) Hopkins. She graduated from Waynesburg High School in 1944. After high school, Helen worked as a receptionist in Waynesburg until she married her husband of 35 years, Ralph Beabout in January of 1946. He died in December of 1981.They moved in 1968, from Jeannette, Pennsylvania to Gnadenhutten, Ohio. She was a member of the Gnadenhutten United Methodist church. Helen enjoyed gardening, cooking, and baking.

Helen is survived by three sons: Larry Beabout of Texas, Robert (Kathy) Beabout of Webster, NY, and John (Nanette) Beabout of Gnadenhutten; grandchildren: Kim, Kevin, Brian, Steven, Scott and Beth; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Lucille Forrester of Fort Myers, FL; and two sisters-in-law: Rheita Danley, and Thelma Lightner of Washington, PA.

Along with her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by five brothers: John, Glen, Alva, Paul, and William (Jr) Hopkins; and two sisters: Mildred Finch and Betty Smith.

Friends may call on Monday, October 19, 2015 from 5 PM to 7 PM at the Gnadenhutten United Methodist Church, 220 N. Walnut St., Gnadenhutten, Ohio 44629. A short service will be held at 7 PM following calling hours with Pastor Seth Filburn officiating. A committal service and burial will take place at 11 AM Tuesday, October 20, 2015 in Prosperity Cemetery, Prosperity, Pennsylvania, with Pastor Scott Lawrence officiating. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Beacon Pointe and Crossroads Hospice for the loving care given to Helen. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gnadenhutten United Methodist Church, PO Box 37, Gnadenhutten, Ohio 44629, or the charity of the donor's choice.
