She was born on May 30, 1931, to the late George M. and Bernice (Hawkins) Kirkpatrick in Greer, Ohio. Gloria graduated from East Holmes High School in 1949 and then went to work at Wickes Lumber in Port Washington, then for Maurer’s Grocery in Uhrichsville, before finding her place at the Indian Village Savings and Loan. She retired from the bank after more than thirty years there.
Gloria was a very active member of the Gnadenhutten United Methodist Church. She would volunteer her time with many of the events at the church and was part of the United Methodist Women, attending Silver Bells, and helping with the funeral dinners provided by the church. At home, Gloria loved to be in the kitchen, baking and cooking. She also enjoyed sewing and gardening.
Surviving are two daughters: Cheryl Moore and Robin (Matt) Bonvechio, both of Gnadenhutten; two sons: Bret (Melody) Kettlewell of Dover and Bruce (Cindy) Kettlewell of New Philadelphia; eleven grandchildren: Eric (April), James (Mandy), Holly, Rachelle, Ben, Andrew, Tara, Christa, Jared (Rachel), Andrea (Luke), and Logan; and seven great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents, Gloria is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Kettlewell, to whom she was married for sixty years before his death on December 12, 2014. She is also preceded by a son-in-law Stephen “Doe” Moore.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Gnadenhutten United Methodist Church, 220 N. Walnut Street, Gnadenhutten, Ohio 44629. A funeral service, also at the church, will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2026, beginning at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Lee Ann Dunlap officiating. A cremation will then be completed, and Gloria’s and Robert’s remains will be buried in the Gnadenhutten-Clay Union Cemetery on a later date.
