Obituary

George A. Swinderman, 87, of Gnadenhutten, died Sunday night of December 3, 2023 in the Community Hospice Truman House.

He was born on April 3, 1936, to the late Homer and Frances (Clouse) Swinderman. He attended Gnadenhutten High School before serving his country in the United States Army. Once discharged, George went to work at various companies throughout his career, including Tusco Display and Indian Valley Schools as a custodian at Midvale. George was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in New Philadelphia and enjoyed going to his grandchildren's ball games, gardening, raising goats, and vacationing in Gatlinburg TN.

On September 4, 1971, he married June E. Hayes, with whom he spent fifty years with before her death on May 14, 2022.

He will be deeply missed by his daughters, Sandy (Keith) Addy of Gnadenhutten, Kim (Byron) Hughes of Port Washington, Judy Lenzo of New Philadelphia, and Louise Swinderman of Port Washington; many grandchildren with four that were especially close: Isaac and Blake Addy and Seth and Gabriella Hughes; several great-grandchildren, two sisters: Joanne Freeman and Arlene Murphey; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, George is preceded in death by a daughter Teresa Stocker, a son George "Pork" Swinderman, and six siblings: Donald and Kenny Swinderman, Audrey Mullett, Shirley Schreiner, Margie Warner, Dorothy Paulun.

Calling hours and a funeral service will be held on Friday, December 8, 2023, at Koch Funeral Home of Gnadenhutten, 244 N. Walnut St., 44629. Calling hours will be from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. with the funeral service starting at 12:00 P.M. officiated by Pastor Don Snow. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Gnadenhutten Clay Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice Inc., 716 Commercial Ave. SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
