Doris A. "Totie" (Colwell) Metzger, 83, of Gnadenhutten, Ohio passed away on Monday evening of June 17, 2024, at Ohio Hospice's Truman House in New Philadelphia following a brief illness.

Totie was born March 18, 1941, in Gnadenhutten, the daughter of the late William "Bill" and Thelma (Brick) Colwell.

In 1959, she graduated from Gnadenhutten High School. Then on June 16, 1962, Totie married John Metzger, with whom she spent the last sixty-two years with. She was a homemaker but did work some outside the home at places such as The Evening Chronicle, and as a teacher's aide for Indian Valley Local Schools. While at home she enjoyed her family and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also liked traveling with John, going all over to different classic car shows.

Surviving are her husband John of the home, her three children: John W. (Linda) Metzger of Texas, Beth (Dan) Fouts of Gnadenhutten, and Craig (Carol) Metzger of Gnadenhutten; four grandchildren: Rachel (John) Hill of Texas, Brittany (Jeremy) Engstrom of Port Washington, Brock Metzger of Port Washington, and Danielle (Terry) Robinson of New Philadelphia; six great-grandchildren: Gavin Fouts, Gage Fouts, Garrity Robinson, Jeremy Engstrom, Ryleigh Engstrom and Delaney Engstrom; a brother James (Hester) Colwell of New Philadelphia, a brother and sister-in-law Ben and Sara Metzger of Illinois, and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, Totie is preceded in death by a sister Joyce Guthrie, and her mother and father-in-law Ben and Florence Metzger.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. with visitation being held one hour prior to the service, at Koch Funeral Home of Gnadenhutten, 244 N. Walnut St., 44629. Marcie Dryden will officiate the service. A committal service will follow at Fry's Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Ohio's Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Ave. SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
