Darrell Gene McComb, age 62, of Gnadenhutten died at 7:45 a.m. Sunday, March 24, 2013 in his home after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born April 19, 1950 in Dennison, Ohio, a son of the late Robert Lee McComb and Peggy Marie Frey McComb.
Darrell was a 1968 graduate of Indian Valley South High School in Gnadenhutten where he played football. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving his country for two years during the Vietnam War.
He was employed for nineteen years at Arizona Chemical in Dover. In his spare time he loved to bowl and go camping.
Surviving is his wife of thirty-eight years, Kathleen Sue Creager McComb. They were married June 1, 1974. Also surviving are a brother, Donald (Jean) McComb of Gnadenhutten; two sisters: Jaynie (Companion Robert Hostetler) Campbell of Gnadenhutten and Peggy (Gary) Tanksley of New Philadelphia; his mother-in-law, Jean Creager of Gnadenhutten, a brother-in-law, Chris Creager of Dover; a sister-in-law, Tina Creager of Midvale; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved cats, Kayla and Spooky.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Calvin Creager and a sister-in-law, Nancy Creager.
Friends will be received in the John Heckewelder Memorial Moravian Church, Gnadenhutten on Tuesday, March 26 from 5 to 8 p.m. Services will be held in the church at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2013 with Rev. Tom Klaserner and Rev. Darrell Johnson officiating. Military Services by the Newcomerstown Vietnam Veterans and burial will follow in the Gnadenhutten Clay Union Cemetery, Gnadenhutten.
Memorial contributions may be made in Darrell's memory to Hospice of Tuscarawas County or the Cats N' Us Shelter in Dover.
