Edith Paternoster Obituary

Edith A. (Hyde) Paternoster, 82, of Gnadenhutten, died in Summa Health Systems Akron City Hospital after unforeseen complications arose following a cardiac procedure.

Edith was born in Uhrichsville, Ohio on March 11, 1936 to the late Walter and Mary E. (Dunkle) Hyde. She graduated from Uhrichsville High School in 1954. Edith worked for the Romig Insurance Agency for a short time, writing insurance policies for the company. She then started working for General Electric under the title of coil spreader, but she did many other tasks for the company as well. After twenty five years, Edith retired from General Electric in 1997 and three days later began working for the Gnadenhutten Public Library doing clerical tasks. Edith was an avid reader which made her time spent at the Library more enjoyable. She also enjoyed completing crossword puzzles and watching the Cavaliers. Years ago she enjoyed playing cards and having dinner with a group of friends from the area.

Edith is survived by her biggest passion in life, her children Julie (Tim) Brown, Joe (Susan) Paternoster both of Gnadenhutten, and Mary Beth Sullivan of Tuscarawas, her grandchildren Heather Lee, JP (Jami) Brown, Nathan Paternoster and Ian Wamboldt, Curt (Bess) Paternoster, and Andrea Sullivan (fiancé TC Starr), and her great-grandchildren Austin, Kash, Rylee, Mason, and Arlo.

Along with her parents, Edith is preceded in death by an infant son, John, and a step-brother, Delbert Long.

Following Edith’s wishes, she will be cremated and a private family service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gnadenhutten Public Library, PO Box 216, Gnadenhutten, Ohio 44629.
