Doris Elizabeth Murphy, 87, of Sebring, Ohio died on Friday, March 25, 2016 at Salem Regional Medical Center following a short illness. She was born in Paris, Maryland on September 9, 1928 to the late Horace and Margaret (Norfolk) Ward. She graduated from Owings High School in Maryland in 1946. She attended college at Asbury where she met Reverend Ernest Murphy. They married June 26, 1948 and were married 63 years before Ernest died on September 27, 2011.

          Doris was a homemaker and enjoyed shopping and dining out. She was a member of the Fohl United Methodist Church in Navarre, Ohio.

          Doris was mother to Brenda (Lynn) Davidson of Bellvue, Ohio, grandmother to Christopher Murphy of Marietta and Elizabeth Quillin of Gnadenhutten, great-grandmother to Parker Quillen of Gnadenhutten, sister to Annabelle Morrison of Prince Frederick, Maryland, and mother-in-law to Cathy Fuller of Strasburg, Ohio.

          Doris was preceded in death by a son William Murphy who died in 2008, two brothers Chester and Russell Ward, and a sister Ruth Fowler.

          Graveside services will be held at the Gnadenhutten-Clay Union Cemetery, Gnadenhutten, Ohio on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Seth Filburn officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Gnadenhutten United Methodist Church.
