Debra Gilmore Obituary

Debra Anne (Lawver) Gilmore, age 61, of Gnadenhutten died on Thursday, February 17, 2022.           

Born August 23, 1960 in Dennison, Ohio; a daughter of the late Charles William (Bill) Lawver and Mary Joanne (Malandrakis) Lawver.

She graduated in 1978 from Indian Valley North High School, then Akron University where received a bachelor’s degree. She went on to further her education and got her Master’s Degree from Ashland University in 1995.

Debra was an elementary school teacher for the Indian Valley School District at the Midvale Elementary School for thirty-two years. After she retired, she worked as a librarian at the Gnadenhutten Public Library.

She really enjoyed walking, bike riding and other outdoor activities with her husband, Rich. She was also an avid supporter of her husband and son’s athletic activities, keeping the scorebook and cheering from the stands. Debra and Rich would travel together, vacationing to historical sites and going to baseball tournaments in Florida. Debra also loved vacationing with Warther’s Tours of New Philadelphia with her other retired co-workers, travelling and sight seeing to various places across the country.

Surviving is her husband of 28 years, Richard Allen Gilmore, of Gnadenhutten. They were married April 2, 1993 in the Schoenbrunn Moravian Church. Also surviving is a son, Jacob Allen Gilmore, of Brightwood and mother-in law, Shirley Maxine Gilmore of Tuscarawas.

Calling hours with viewing will be held Tuesday, February 22, 2022 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Gnadenhutten Moravian Church, 133 South Walnut Street, Gnadenhutten OH 44629. A private family service and burial will be held in the Gnadenhutten-Clay Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Gnadenhutten Public Library, 160 North Walnut Street, Gnadenhutten, Ohio 44629.
