Sherry Zimmerman Obituary

Sherry Ann (Myers) Zimmerman, 74, of Gnadenhutten entered into the immediate presence of Jesus Christ, on December 1, 2023.  Sherry was born in Dover at Union Hospital to Rolland Osborne and Irene Celeste (Schilling) Myers on August 26, 1949.  She graduated from Central Union High School in El Centro, California in 1967.  She worked at the United States Department of Commerce for nearly twenty-five years as a Field Representative for the Bureau of the Census.  She enjoyed meeting new people and exploring new places as she traveled extensively throughout Ohio and West Viriginia in her career.  Sherry was a member of Mensa and volunteered as a member of the Gnadenhutten Library Board.  She was known for her ability to solve complicated word puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and she loved to read.  The biggest joy of her life was spending time with her husband, family, and playing Bingo in Newcomerstown.

Whenever she would part ways with a loved one, she would always say, “be careful” as she loved fiercely, and was very protective.  Not much got past her, as she was able to easily spot shenanigans and mischief.  She always made sure her kids were in church and were exposed to the truth of Jesus Christ as long as they were under her care.  Sherry loved to collect salt and pepper shakers and accumulated quite a collection over the years.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 40 years, David Zimmerman, her children; Jeffrey (Nina) Farrow, Anthony Farrow, Jennifer Farrow, Kari (Doug) Decker, Valerie Overstreet and Joseph (Christina) Elvin; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by a sister; Vickie Baumgardner, brothers Kent (Ann) Myers, Terry (Linda) Myers and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers: Ward and Larry.
