Bob earned his driver’s license at the age of 12 and drove dairy truck for R.S. Kettlewell & Sons, who hauled for the family owned Shady Lawn Dairy. Bob enlisted in the Navy after high school and fought in both World War II and the Korean War for his country. Bob then went to work for the Ohio State Highway Patrol for twenty plus years, leaving as commander of the New Philadelphia post. He then worked as an insurance adjuster for insurance companies in the area. Bob was also on the School Board for Indian Valley South, worked for Bates Metal, and sold tickets at the gate for football and basketball games. Bob enjoyed golfing and following all of the activities his children and grandchildren participated in.

On October 22, 1954, Bob married his surviving wife of sixty years, Gloria M. (Kirkpatrick). Also surviving are two daughters: Cheryl (Steve “Doe”) Moore and Robin (Matt) Bonvechio, both of Gnadenhutten; two sons: Bret (Melody) Kettlewell of Dover and Bruce (Cindy) Kettlewell of New Philadelphia; eleven grandchildren: Eric, James, Holly, Rachelle, Ben, Andrew, Tara, Christa, Jared, Andrea, and Logan; five great-grandchildren; three sisters: Edna (Bob) Giammarco, Edith Orkis, and Ruth Ann Greiffenhagen; sister-in-law Marilyn Kettlewell; and Bob’s cherrished dog, Cammie.

Along with his parents, Bob was preceded in death by three brothers: Paul, Albert, and Charles Kettlewell and two sisters Alice Egy and an infant.
