Lori Elizabeth (Baker) Davis, 55, of Gnadenhutten, died late at night on December 15, 2014, in the Community Hospice House in New Philadelphia, from a yearlong battle with cancer. She was born in Twin City Hospital in Dennison, on May 21, 1959 to her surviving parents James and Janice (Biggs) Baker of Gnadenhutten.

Lori graduated from Indian Valley South in 1977. She has been married to Fred Davis for 37 years. They were married on January 1, 1977. Lori was a co-owner, with Hope Johnson, of the Village Gift Shoppe in Gnadenhutten. She was a member of the Gnadenhutten Lion’s Club, where she served as chairman for the Gnadenhutten 4th of July Fireworks Festival. Lori also played a big role in starting and running the farmer’s market in Gnadenhutten. Lori was also an accomplished painter and mixed media artist, and her whimsical, Vintage Palette Art creations delighted folk art collectors worldwide. Active in several online art groups, she was an early member of both PFATT (Primitive Folk Art Talk and Tea) and EHAG (Eclectic Halloween Artists Guild). In 2009, she assumed leadership of the PFATT group. Under Lori's guidance, the group flourished and became an online sisterhood of some of the country's finest folk artists. She inspired and empowered many women to follow a creative path and to establish their own art based business.

Along with her husband and parents, Lori is survived by daughter Morgan (companion, Bryan Guspyt) Davis, of Gnadenhutten, granddaughter Jadyn Apple, brother Chad Baker, of Gnadenhutten, two sisters; Staci (John) Schreiner, of Lock Seventeen, and Kelli (Roddy) Bonamico, of Dennison, mother and father-in-law Charles and Ruth Davis, of Gnadenhutten, two uncles; Mark (Carol) Biggs, of Tennessee, and Larry (Linda) Biggs, of Sugarcreek, Aunt Pam (Tom) Vesco of Mineral City, Uncle Bob and Aunt Mary Alice Baker of Gnadenhutten, Uncle Don Baker of New Philadelphia, and two brother-in-laws; Rick (Debbie) Davis, of Hartville, Ohio and Jeff Davis of New Philadelphia, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lori was preceded in death by a daughter, Dawn Michelle Davis, who died in 1977.

Services for Lori will be held at 11:00 A.M., December 19, 2014, at the Gnadenhutten United Methodist Church with Chaplin Gordon Furbay officiating. Burial will take place following the service at Gnadenhutten-Clay Union Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at the church from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. and 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 18, 2014.
