          James “Jim” Robert Mattison, 41, of Gnadenhutten died unexpectedly in Canton on Tuesday, February 29, 2016. He was born in Dennison, Ohio on September 21, 1974. Jim is the son of JoAnn E. (Long) Mattison, of Gnadenhutten and Randy L.J. Mattison (Companion Carrie Parker) of Winesburg.        

          Jim graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1993. He was a truck driver and worked for different companies including Yutzy Transportation, D.L. Belknap Trucking, Inc., and for the PBR, hauling the arenas to the various rodeo locations. Jim enjoyed fishing, Nascar, and watching his daughter, Kelcie, play softball.        

          Surviving Jim is a daughter, Kelcie Mattison of Gnadenhutten, his parents, two brothers, Eric Mattison of Elk Horn, Kentucky, and Randy Mattison Jr. of Gnadenhutten, a sister, Harlee Mattison of Winesburg, a nephew, Tyler Mattison of Stonecreek, a niece Sarah Mattison of Stonecreek, and friends, Tonya Daley of New Philadelphia, Derrick and TT McHenrey.        

          Preceding Jim in death are his grandparents, Alice and Robert Long and James and June Mattison, and an uncle, Bob Long.        

          Calling hours and Services for Jim will be Saturday, March 5, 2016 at the Gnadenhutten United Methodist Church. Calling hours will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM with the funeral service beginning at 1:00. Pastor Seth Filburn will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Gnadenhutten-Clay Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice.
