FAQs

Today, more people are recognizing that planning a funeral in advance of need demonstrates love and consideration toward their family members. It is a thoughtful decision that reduces the stress of indecision and uncertainty when death occurs.

The following information has been prepared to answer some of the questions we frequently received about pre-arrangement.

There are many good reasons. Some plan ahead to try to alleviate some of the stress created by all the decisions that have to be made when a death occurs. Pre-payment can provide real benefits to the survivors if a medical condition arises that requires a lengthy stay in a hospital, rehab facility, or nursing home and Medicaid assistance is required.

After you decide what type of funeral services and merchandise you prefer, we will explain your options and guide you. You may also have your family and/or a friend help you with your selections. We will record your vital statistic information and ask for certain documents to support your information.

You may then pay for the services and merchandise you have selected. This is not a necessary part of pre-arrangements, but relieves your family of the expense later.

The cost is a matter of your choice.

Our General Price List quotes an itemized price for the goods and services we provide. You may request a written copy of this price list at any time. A Casket Price List and an Outer Burial Container Price List can be viewed at the funeral home.

The state of Ohio requires pre-paid funeral funds to be placed with a third party until death occurs. It is against the law for the funeral home to keep this money. We currently use Homesteaders Life Company to fund our pre-arrangements which means if you choose to pre-pay for your services and merchandise in advance, the funds will be placed in a single premium life insurance policy with Homesteaders Life Company.

Homesteaders is a company that specializes in funeral home pre-need policies.

When death occurs, we provides Homesteaders with the proper documentation verifying the death and then and only then will Homesteaders release the funds to the funeral home to pay for your final expenses.
